Track: Project Management
Abstract
This study aims to demonstrate how agile methods contribute to the success of new business unit development in one of Brazil's largest technology companies. It also highlights the value of using agile methods to manage and support managers in implementing disruptive business ventures. A case study was conducted in a technology sector company that applied agile concepts to launch a new business unit. The research methodology included data collection, document analysis, and interviews, exploring concepts from well-known agile methods like Kanban, Scrum, and the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). Data was collected in Curitiba, Brazil, from January to July 2023.
The findings emphasize the significant impact of agile techniques on managing and governing transformative projects in the computer technology services sector, enhancing overall performance. Active involvement of senior management is crucial for the successful integration of these strategies, ensuring proper prioritization amid daily demands. Disseminating an agile culture across all organization levels and fostering innovation and adaptability in teams are essential prerequisites for implementing the established strategy. However, it's important to address the risks associated with task prioritization and completion.
In conclusion, the study affirms the applicability of agile methodology and its substantial benefits in launching new business units in technology services. While this research lays a foundation for professionals and researchers, it's important to note that the findings are based on a specific scope and data collected over a defined timeframe. Future research should expand on these findings, encompassing different perspectives and contexts to provide additional insights.
This study makes a unique contribution by examining the relationship between agile methodologies, the computer technology services sector, process performance, and strategic outcomes in project management. It broadens the existing knowledge base and offers valuable insights for researchers and practitioners, promoting the advancement of project administration and agile practices in this specific field.
