Abstract

Decarbonization Beyond Vehicle Electrification: FORVIA develops new brand to deliver innovative sustainable materials

Aligned with the automotive industry’s carbon neutrality ambitions, carmakers and suppliers are also aware of the environmental impact of the materials used in vehicles. While electric vehicles are essential to reach OEM’s zero emission goals, they will also need to build vehicles that rely on sustainably sourced materials that are recyclable and renewable. With approximately 60% of a car's production CO2 footprint made up of its materials, sustainable materials that do not compromise on quality play a key part in building a more sustainable car, beyond the tailpipe.

MATERI’ACT, a FORVIA brand, develops and commercializes unique cutting-edge materials with low and ultra-low CO2 footprint in four categories: Compounds, Foils as alternative to leather, carbon fibers, and green steel – supporting FORVIA’s ambition to be CO2 neutral in its products, and in-line with OEM’s objectives and end-users’ wishes to have more sustainable vehicles.

With more than 10 years of expertise in formulating and processing recycled, bio-sourced and carbon-capturing materials, aligned with the European Green Taxonomy, MATERI’ACT’s adaptative and predictive formulations find uses in the automotive industry and beyond. From waste and bio stock management to renewable materials, we mobilize a best-in class industrial and academic ecosystem.
