Abstract

This paper presents the outcomes of an ongoing project carried on in a manufacturing company. This company manufactures aluminum parts for the suppliers in automotive industry. Due to higher quality standards expected by their customers, company is currently applying POKA-YOKE approach for quality improvement. However, the company is facing high return rates for some of the orders sent to their customers as they are facing some challenges in their quality control processes. Recently 2800 items from an order of 4000 parts were returned and this incident has led us to propose a project to improve their quality control levels. Currently Industry 4.0 approach has been widely accepted in automotiveindustry as well as many other industries. Industry 4.0 provides an underlying theme for this project.
