Developing Information System of Remnant Product Using Waterfall Method with Macro Microsoft Excel

Abstract

Due to the rapid development of technology, information technology is needed by companies to support their operational activities such as data processing and visualization.  One of the purposes of the use of information technology is to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of a process to raise the company's competitive advantage. The company under investigation is located in Yogyakarta, Indonesia which has not to apply information technology, especially in the field of controlling and recording the remnant products. The process of inputting the data is still made traditionally by using the simple Microsoft Excel. This study aims to design an information system using the Waterfall method and developed using VBA Macro Excel. The proposed system prototype has made and validated by interview five users. The result shows that the proposed system increases the efficiency and effectiveness in terms of reduces the time to input the data and reduces human errors.
