Abstract

The failure analysis and management has a strategic dimension from the financial, technical, engineering, social and economical viewpoint in oil and gas industries all around the world. Nowadays using the methodical and algorithms for possible automatic approach for managing of failure data has key role in technical inspection records of world-class companies, and it can make essential improvement in work-flows and in the decision-making processes.

A contracted joint venture of industrial consultants, academicians and CEOs of gas a plant (experts panel), were organized in RBI (Risk-Based Inspection) committee in order to deploy a RBI and Maintenance (RBI&M) procedure based on American Petroleum Institute Standards (API RP 580-581).

This paper represents the implementation of the RBI&M method in two specific stages in the maintenance activities of the typical gas plant technical inspection and work orders management.

The executive committee developed hierarchy methods for applying RBI&M procedure in order to help the gas plant managers to minimize the potential risk of failure and taking into account the limited resources (e.g. time and budget) and HR. The results have illustrated a clear improvement in the per-defined KPIs of the maintenance quality in a typical gas treating plant of National Iranian Gas Company
